FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How does the hot air balloon fly?
Hot air balloon flight is based on Archimedes’ principle, the hot air balloon flies because it is lighter than the air in which it is contained. What makes it lighter? The temperature, which must be higher than the temperature outside, giving it an upward force or thrust. Through the burner, the pilot heats or cools the air in the hot air balloon, thus adjusting its height in the sky.
How fast does a hot air balloon go?
For the safety of our passengers, we fly only in calm wind conditions, with an average speed between 5 and 15 kmh. The beauty of ballooning is the floating sensation, cradled by the wind, a “slow tourism” that allows you to admire the view from a privileged perspective.
Is it safe to fly in a hot air balloon?
Yes, the hot air balloon is a certified and inspected aircraft, both by official annual inspections by certified technicians and by the pilot and his team on each flight. Our pilots are widely experienced and obviously licensed people. We fly only in optimal weather conditions. Let us take you serenely into the clouds!
Is it cold in a hot air balloon?
No it is not cold, the burner provides a very pleasant temperature even in winter. Always recommended layered clothing to adjust to temperature changes between the time of inflation, flight and landing.
How high does a hot air balloon fly?
The maximum height depends on the limitations of the locality. In Lombardy it is generally 600 meters above sea level; in Piedmont it may be higher.
Do you suffer from dizziness?
It tends not to. Looking down from a hot air balloon is different than looking down from the top of a skyscraper; The gentle buoyancy in the air does not induce vertigo.
Where does the hot air balloon land?
The hot air balloon is driven by the wind, each flight is unique, different routes are always discovered. The pilot choosing the flight height takes advantage of the currents at different heights to better direct himself, but the landing point is always different. A fascinating, adventurous, romantic journey to discover the beauty of our territory!
The logistics of the experience are in our care, our team will then take passengers to the starting point.
At what times of the year is it best to fly?
The flight is always beautiful, in summer the temperatures are more intense, in winter there can be beautiful days with clear skies and the burner keeps our passengers warm. In winter we also fly at more central times of the day, in summer at dawn … the choice is yours!
Why do we fly only at dawn in summer?
For two reasons:
the hot-air balloon can fly only when the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature and in stable weather and calm wind … in summer only at dawn, after the sun warms the air and generates the thermal currents.
Why can't you fly in the dark or too close to dusk?
The pilot must be able to have excellent visibility to choose flight height and landing site; poor visibility would not make this safely possible.
The only exception? The departure in the dark just before sunrise to see the sunrise in flight. Try it at our Crema location!
Another possibility to see the light bulb effect of the hot air balloon in the dark is the tethered flight, it is organized adhoc for groups of friends, including an aperitif.
What happens in case of bad weather?
You reschedule your flight while maintaining the validity of your ticket.
Can everyone fly?
The activity is suitable for ages 6 and up with a minimum height of 120 cm.
Flying is risk-free; however, it is essential to enjoy a good state of health.
It is not possible to fly if you are pregnant, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or unable to maintain the support position during the landing stages, which consists of bending your knees while holding on to the special handles. People with cardiovascular, pulmonary or osteoporosis diseases, psychiatric disorders or with prosthetic limbs or walking problems cannot fly. In addition, it is forbidden to fly while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and to anyone who has engaged in scuba diving activities in the 24 hours prior to the flight.
Any type of disability must be disclosed, checking for contraindications, at the time of booking; it is important that the pilot is aware of this so that he or she can ensure your safety!
The pilot has the authority to decide whether the participant is fit to fly.
If you have any questions about this, consult your medical professional!
How do we dress?
Layered clothing suitable for the season is recommended, always long pants, you may land in places with high grass.
Closed sports shoes (no heels)
Don’t forget to bring a water bottle.
